Bacteriodes fragilis is an anaerobic, Gram-negative bacterium that is generally a commensal organism of the gut. However, when B. fragilis escapes the gastrointestinal environment through surgery, disease, or trauma, it can cause bacteremia and abscess formation in surrounding tissue. Of all anaerobic pathogens, species of the genus Bacteroides have the highest rates of antibiotic resistance.

TransPharm has validated this pathogen in the following model:

  • Abscess

Additional validations are available upon request.
