Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium
Salmonella enterica subsp. serovar Typhimurium is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes gastrointestinal disease and, in severe cases, bacteremia. It is commonly transmitted through undercooked food or contact with birds and reptiles or their feces. Children under 5, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are most likely to have severe Salmonella Typhimurium infections.
