Herpes Simplex Virus 2
Herpes Simplex Virus 2
Herpes Simplex Virus 2 (HSV-2) is almost exclusively sexually transmitted and causes a lifelong, incurable infection. Although most infections are asymptomatic, the virus can cause blisters or ulcers in the anogenital region, even many years after infection due to recurrence. HSV-2 is likely to cause more severe symptoms in neonates, who are exposed during childbirth, and immunocompromised individuals.
An infection model using this pathogen can be validated upon request.
