Spring 2018 Newsletter
A Note from the President
Spring 2018 has been a busy season here at TransPharm! Members of our team are gearing up to attend the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Microbe Conference in Atlanta, Georgia next month. Dr. Santiago Lopez (Chief Scientific Officer), Marci Peek (Senior Protocol Specialist), Samantha Ross (Operations Manager), and I will be at Booth #3107 in the Exhibit Hall at the Georgia World Congress Center. We would love to see you!
TransPharm is also preparing for an AAALAC site visit later this month. AAALAC International is a private, nonprofit organization that promotes the humane treatment of animals in science through a voluntary accreditation program. Every three years, evaluators conduct a comprehensive on-site assessment to grant renewal or revoke accredited status. TransPharm is committed to prioritizing the well-being of our animals and we have proudly maintained our AAALAC-accreditation since it was first granted in 2009.

In the Lab
Although TransPharm is best known for our animal models of infectious disease, we have recently had more requests for our in vitro services. We’d like to take this chance to remind you of what we have to offer outside the vivarium. Our team has experience performing a range of antimicrobial susceptibility testing, including time-kill kinetics assays, checkerboard analyses, minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) testing, and multiple methods of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) testing. Contact us today for a complimentary consultation or to request a free, no-obligation quote!

Congratulations, Emily!
Congratulations to employee Emily Gilles! She graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry from Saginaw Valley State University on Saturday. Emily participated in the TransPharm Summer Internship Program in 2016 and has been working part-time as our Laboratory Technician ever since. We are excited to announce that post-graduation, Emily will be joining us full-time as an Associate Scientist. She will be taking the lead on many of our in vitro assays, including MIC testing and checkerboard analyses.
New and Improved Website
We have been hard at work updating our website. In addition to a new, mobile-friendly design, we have published pages for each pathogen and model, including procedure summaries, validated strains, and sample data. Please head over to transpharmsite.com and check it out!
